Penmachno Dam.

As they are about to remember the Delgarrog dam collapse disaster, I was wondering if this dam above Penmachno, that was built in a similar manor, suffered the same fate or was just dismantled as a safety precaution when mining finished. Water would have powered the slate processes in the dressing sheds for the Rhiw-Back quarry. Anyone have any info please?I took the photo's several years ago.

Pic for Monday.

 Mini falls above Penmachno.

This morning from the bridge.

Today's ride.

Quite a pleasant morning, a bit nippy at 5 degrees but the sun is trying.

Low cloud on Moel Famau.

Pic for Sunday.

The ruins of the miners village above Penmachno. In it's hay day it had a shop and a school. It's above the snowline so must have been bitter in the winter. As all supplies had to be brought up from the valley, in the end they were priced out and the village closed.

From the archives.

Came across this while having a sort out. This was the X2 model of the Foxhunter (Tornado} radar, which left Borehamwood for RAE Bedford, it was then used for ground trials.

I was the radar Commissioning manager, great hands on job.

Today's ride, cancelled, heavy rain.

The miners chapel at my face place, Cwmortin.
