A bed wasn't always affordable, sleeping on a mat laid on the floorboards was often the norm.

A row of the workers cottages.
  

A locally manufactured brick.
  

Several of the cottages have been furnished as they would have been in various time periods, starting in 1790.
  

Single bed. As the bedrooms were often shared by more than one person, curtains provided a little privacy.
