Cwm Penmachno to Rhiw-bach quarry.....25.
What remains of the miners village. It had it's own shop and school but in the end it was too expensive to have provisions etc brought up from the valley so it was deserted.

Walk around Rhiwbach quarry 7.

Only two rooms to each cottage.
A small outbuilding, the large slates formed the roof.
A slight lean! Slate was a great building material, this wall would have been slowly moving for years but is still standing, no modern wall would remain this way for so long.
The building in the background may well have been the school and shop.
