The bridge at Betws y Coed.

Another of Telford's great bridges carries the A5 traffic over the river Conwy in North Wales. The majority of travellers have probably never seen it's beauty.

Autumn colours.

Most of the trees are slow to change colours this year. Taken earlier today.

St Clare's Convent, Pantasaph. 6

St Clare's convent chapel. As a consequence of my original digital camera numbering system and the vast amount of images involved, photo's will often be in a random sequence.

These are the only pictures that I was kindly allowed to copy. It was certainly once a beautiful chapel.

A very old shot through a window, the font on the right.

What remained of the roof tiles have been removed. The roof timbers, apart from one small section, still remain in the building today. No longer a Chapel but a private house.

The black and white patterns of tiles around the altar.

The tiles that covered the whole of the church floor.

During the development the building was shortened and all the beautiful tiles ripped up!

St Clare's Convent, Pantasaph. 5

The sign on the door of the waiting room greeting pilgrims. I have hundreds of pic's and several hours of video, unfortunately far too many to post on this blog.

St Clare's Convent, Pantasaph. 4

Just come across this, it is a shot of the pilgrims waiting room, taken through a window of the orphanage.

St Clare's Convent, Pantasaph. 3

The Oratory had been exposed to vandals and the elements for quite some time when I took these shots in 2002. The paining of St Philomena was deteriorating rapidly.

This was an attempt by me to restore the painting using my editing programs.

Lets hope their prayers were answered.

The oratory was located in the left hand corner of this shot. A large number of people visited St Philomena that it was found necessary to build an extra room for people to wait and shelter, it has been destroyed in this picture.

The final hours. Two sections of the wall were preserved. The JCB driver who would have normally knocked down the wall with St Philomena's paining on didn't feel comfortable about doing it so handed the demolition to a colleague. Today a modern house stands on the site.

St Clare's Convent, Pantasaph. 2

Courtyard.

Tramps would call at this porch for food and shelter.

Close up.

Track in front of convent.

Nature taking over.

From the front of the chapel towards the girls boarding school.

Through the fence by the convent farm.

South view.

In the foreground, the garage.

On the left the orphanage, a serious fire there a few years previous.
