I take shots of almost anything that catches my eye, my favourite subject is probably waterfalls.

Llanberis pass, Dinorwig slate quarries...16
Power station entrance.
From another angle.
I'm sure the locals must have a name for this massive rock, would be interested to know.
The main incline comes into view.
All the winding drums I have come across previously have been single ones, one wire winds as the other unwinds. However, with the length of the levels on this site two drums, connected by a single shaft, one lowering the slate wagon and the other pulling up the empty one is employed. All the necessary power provided by gravity, a brake system is still required to control the speed .

Penmachno to the miners village.
A foggy and frosty start to the day. Being March it took a while for the sun to illuminate the valley.
Stopped on the way to take the sunrise from the edge of the Denbigh moor.
Having parked the car I took this shot looking across the valley. The houses in the distance are now deserted and have been for some time.
Old mine building in front of the level.
Looking up the valley.
Tons and tons of waste slate making up the levels. The valley is in shadow so I have edited these in HDR.
