Denbigh Asylum...haunted.

Cwm Penmachno......Spring 2012. 6.

Looking down on the village in the valley below.

In the distance is the chimney of the steam engine house and the village that we visited on a previous walk.

On the summit there are many underground streams which wash away soil, as a consequence the land above drops by a few feet now and again.

Way in the distance is Wales highest mountain, Snowdon.

The sun now illuminates the whole valley.

Cwm Penmachno......Spring 2012. 5.

Finally the sun has made it to this side of the valley, almost at the summit now.

Still holding out to the elements.

Corner fireplace, essential in the winter as the building is well above the snow line.

Window view.

Beaten by the weather.

Cwm Penmachno......Spring 2012. 4.

Tomorrow we make it up into the sun.

Looking down into one of the quarry's.

Waiting for the warmth of the sun.

A piece of tramway rail, mother nature slowly covering what remains on the mountain.

A rare find, one of the tramway sleepers.

A winding drum ruined building in the background.

Cwm Penmachno......Spring 2012. 3.

One of a pair of old quarry buildings, approximately a third of the way up the mountain.

Doorway, the timbers just surviving.

The second, built in the same style and located at the quarry entrance.

The side window.

Cwm Penmachno......Spring 2012. 2.

The sun has yet to reach this side of the valley.

There has been little rain during the winter, this river bed is completely dry.

A steep climb ahead up the old slate incline.

Thousands of tons of slate would have been transported down this incline in the past.

Showing the construction. Mother nature slowly reclaiming.

Spring really has arrived, always later on the mountains.

Cwm Penmachno......Spring 2012.

On my way across the Denbigh moor I captured the morning mist hanging over part of the Alwn reservoir.

Looking across the valley towards the village.

Old quarry buildings caught in the morning sun.

The majority of the valley still waits to be flooded by the morning sun.
