I take shots of almost anything that catches my eye, my favourite subject is probably waterfalls.

Trip to Llanberis 4.
Goats grazing in the castle grounds.
Looking over some castle ruins.
Dinorwig hydroelectric power station. During the day it is powered by water from the lake at the top of the mountain, this is when demand is high. The water flows into the lake below and at night when demand is low the turbines work in reverse and pump the water back up to the top lake. The power station itself is built into the heart of the mountain.
View of the remains of the slate quarry located above the power station entrance.
Close up of the quarry.

Walk around Rhiwbach quarry 11.
The walk around the quarry is complete, once again I hope you found it interesting.
All that remains is to take the road back down the valley, fortunately I can drive the final leg.
Looking back along the waste slate that divides the lake.
This mine entrance is tucked away from view, centre picture.
Looking at the lower left shot, I'm not sure it went into the mountain very far.
Several different minerals have been washed over the rock face.

Walk around Rhiwbach quarry 8.
Today we leave the village and arrive at the lake. This was once a quarry but filled with water when no longer in use. The water was then piped further down the valley to power the slate cutting machinery in the dressing sheds at the Penmachno quarry.
The back way out of the village.
If you look at the ruin right at the back you will notice the holes in the wall that supported beams. This must have been a two story building which is unusual, maybe it housed the school and shop.
Mother nature busy reclaiming another building.

The Cwmorthin valley 6.
Final shots from the valley today.
The clouds have finally won.
Once home for someone.
End walls and chimney.
They are making the entrance to this mine safe so as to allow people access.

The Cwmorthin valley 4.
Looking across to the barracks.
Through a hole in the wall. I wanted a shot from this angle but the sun by this time was head on, a convenient hole in a wall solved the problem.
Looking across the lake at the waste tips.
Some lakeside buildings. Starting to climb the other side of the valley.
Not a good sign, low cloud starting to roll in.

Walk to Llyn Bowydd 7.
One of the streams feeding the Newydd.
Overflow stream.
Part of the shoreline at Newydd.
Unfortunately these had been left too long to be collectable.
