Graig ddu quarry.....29.

Waste slate levels.

This mine is still working, all open cast now.
During the second world war all the art treasures were brought up from London and stored within the mine for safe keeping.

Today's edit....slate wagon.

An old quarry slate wagon. Not seen this here before, probably been dragged out of an old mine.

Walk in the hills.....17.

Dressing sheds outside the mine.

A fine lump of rock.

Dropping down to the lake was too steep so this will be my detour to get back to the car park.

Cwmorthin valley, right hand side....6.

Remains of buildings, once again no mortar used in their construction!

Mine entrance. A couple of years ago there was a big fall of slate and the entrance to the mine was completely covered. The plan was to open a section to the public.

The entrance to the mine is clear once again so the project will probably continue.

Park in the Llanberis pass.

After leaving Denbigh in the sunshine we were greeted by low cloud at Llanberis, shot some pic's anyway.

Plaque.

Track at the beginning of the park.

Mine entrance, pitch black inside and bars at the entrance.

A party of very young girls were doing some rock climbing. With no helmets etc there seems  to be a total disregard for their safety, not sure the adult in the picture was suitably dressed either!
